Lauren Kosty reviews the Institute’s 2.3-octave chromatic “Masanga” marimba.

Just around the holidays, our hometown friend and percussionist Lauren Kosty (www.LaurenKosty.com) was in town from London and she the took time out of her busy schedule to come by and play on our recently finished 2-octave chromatic marimba we call “Masanga” and tell us what she thinks of it…and then we went for tea.  🙂

I’ve paraphrased her review below, but it’s better if you just watch the video so you can properly hear the instrument and check out what Lauren has to say.

“I love it, I mean it’s got a really nice bar width… the spacing is really nice, it’s resonant… and it’s just a smart instrument, in terms of being able to store it, move it, the legs fold right up so you can put it in the corner… and it fits in the back of a car which is really nice for a mallet instrument.”
